【摘要】:SincethequalityofprehospitalALS/EMTtrainingdepends,inlargemeasure,ontheinstructionalabilitiesandcompetenciesoftheALS/EMTinstructor,itisimperativethattheindividualselectedandusedinthiscapacitypossessthequalificationsandcapabilitiesnecessarytoprovideeffectiveinstruction.AnALS/EMTinstructormustpossessclearlydefinedknowledgeandskillscompetencies,haveclearlydefinedresponsibilitiesandscopeofauthorityrelatedtoinstructionalprogramsandmeetotherspecificrequirementspertinenttothelevelofinstruction.Usingthisguide,EMSinstitutionsandorganizationsshouldbeabletodeveloprequirementsforselectionandutilizationofALS/EMTinstructorsforALS/EMTtrainingandeducationprograms.ADVANCEDLIFESUPPORTINSTRUCTORGUIDELINESTop1.1Thisguideisintendedtoassistemergencymedicalservices(EMS)agenciesandinstitutionsinselectingandutilizingindividualswhoteachinEMT(emergencymedicaltechnician)trainingprogramsthatincludeinstructioninadvancedlifesupportknowledgeandskills.1.2ThisguideidentifiessixcategoriesofinstructorinanALS/EMT(advancedlifesupport/emergencymedicaltechnician)trainingprogram:adjunctinstructor,clinical/fieldpreceptor,practicalskillsinstructor,associateinstructor,courseinstructor/coordinator(I/C),andcourseadministrator.Theguiderecognizesthatanindividualmay,dependingonhis/herlevelofpracticeandthetrainingprograminvolved,functioninanyorallofthesecategories.1.3Thisguideincludesspecificguidelinesforqualifications,training,education,experience,scopeofauthority,responsibilities,continuingeducation,evaluation,andmaintenanceofcompetencywhenapplicable.1.4Thisguidedoesnotincludespecificguidelinesforthecourseadministratorortheadjunctinstructor.Whiletheguiderecognizes,byofferingadefinitionofeachcategory,thatthesetypesofindividualsfunctioninmanyALS/EMTtrainingprograms,thelimitedinstructionalrolesplayedbytheseindividualsprecludestheneedforspecificselectionandutilizationguidelines.1.5ThisguideisintendedtoapplytoanyindividualwhoteachesinALS/EMTtrainingprogramsregardlessoftheindividual''spresentlevelofclinicalpractice.1.6Thisguideintentionallyomitsreferencestolengthofprehospitalcareexperience,teachingexperience,andcontinuingeducationrequirements.Thisguidealsoomitsreferencetowaiverorequivalency.Theseissuesshouldbeaddressedbytheappropriateagency.1.7ThisguideappliesonlytoinstructorswhoteachinadvancedlifesupporttrainingcoursesdesignedtoprepareanindividualforcertificationtopracticeasanEMTabovetheleveloftheEMT(basic).ItdoesnotapplytoinstructorswhoteachinspecializedcoursesthatdonotinthemselvesqualifytheindividualforalevelofEMTcertification.1.8Thisguidedoesnotestablishcertificationrequirements.SuchrequirementsshouldbeestablishedbythecertifyingagencyinthejurisdictioninwhichtheALS/EMTinstructorwillfunction.Thisguidemaybeusedtoprovideconsiderableguidancetothejurisdictionresponsibleforestablishingcertificationstandards.1.9Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;AlsoseePracticeF1031.
