【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesauniformrepresentationofhumansexesfortheinterchangeofinformation.Itisintendedto·reducethetimerequiredtorecordand/orformattherepresentationofsexesandtransmitthecorrespondingdata;·improveclarityandaccuracyofinterchange;·minimizetheamountofhumaninterventionrequiredforcommunicatingtherepresentationofsexes;and·reducecosts.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotprescribefilesequences,storagemedia,programminglanguages,orotherfeaturesofinformationprocessingtobeusedinitsimplementation.ThisInternationalStandardmeetstherequirementsofmostapplicationsthatneedtocodehumansexes.Itdoesnotprovidecodesforsexesthatmayberequiredinspecificmedicalandscientificapplicationsorinapplicationsthatneedtocodesexinformationotherthanforhumanbeings.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotsupplantnationalstandardsforcodingsexesthataredesignedbaseduponcodesderivedfromnamesofsexesinthevariouslanguages(forexample"M"for"male"and"F"for"female"intheEnglishlanguage).Itprovidesanumericcodethatisindependentoflanguage-derivedcodesandassuchisintendedtoprovideacommonbasisfortheinternationalexchangeofinformationcontaininghumansexdataelements.
